Celebrating Love

I feel Valentine's Day is overrated. St. Valentine must not have imagined that his act of getting young couples married would make way to his death anniversary to be celebrated worldwide as the way of love.People argue that why a day, 14th of February, needs to be singled out in the year as the day of love when they can make their love of their lives feel loved every single day. This one day is being commercialized in every way possible. So I actually know that Valentine's Day is overrated. But still, I love to celebrate this 'festival of love'.

I am a sucker for romance. I spend days and months to plan or create gifts for my husband (previously my fiancee and boyfriend). So 14th Feb is another day I look forward to. Of course, I do special stuff for him on regular days too. Love does not need special days to be displayed, right! And that is what Az strongly believes in. So he can be romantic in his own way on the most mundane days too. But he knows how I love special things on occasions. And this year, he planned and executed a wonderful V-day. Roses, card, movie, dinner and rain (yeah it rained by the end of the day!!). He's usually bad in pulling off surprises, but this time he really nailed it.

But the real highlight of this V-day was the surprise love displayed by my siblings-in-law. After midnight, they gave me roses and a hand-made card-cum-letter stating why and how special I am to them (and that V-day is just an excuse of expressing their love). I got so emotional reading it. I would have cried a river if shedding tears were my thing. It was loveliest valentine gift I have ever received. Thank you so much guys for making the day extra special.
Sweetest Valentine gift
Valentine's day today is no longer a day only for romantic love. Over the years, it has turned into a day of love for all relationships. May be the following lines (which were in circulation this V-day) best summarizes the feeling:
"When a little girl puts her energy to give
her dad a kiss… That’s Love

When a wife makes tea for her
husband and takes a sip before him… That’s Love

When a mother gives her son the best
piece of cake… That’s Love

When your Friend holds your hand
tightly on a slippery road… That’s Love

When your brother/sister messages
you and ask if you reached home on time… That’s Love

Love isn’t just a guy holding a girl and going around the city…

Love is actually another name of “Care” "

So true. Loving is caring and caring is loving. So apart from celebrating V-day with the love of your life, we should also take it as an opportunity to express your love to the people in your life whom you care about. As far as romantic love is concerned, V-day is just another excuse for me to celebrate love.
